Every travel story has a spark. Ours began not with a business plan, but with a baby monitor and a missed walking tour. We’re Chris and Prue - engineers, explorers, and now, the co-founders of MyGuideGuru, an app designed to make self-guided city exploration simple, smart, and on your schedule.
We’ve lived in six countries and travelled through 48. From cherry blossoms in Korea to flamenco festivals in Seville, travel for us has always been about culture, curiosity, and connection. But things changed the day our eight-month-old son slept through the start of a walking tour.
Our early days of parenting didn’t dull our wanderlust, but it did make traditional tours nearly impossible. Tours were fully booked in peak-season hotspots like San Sebastian, they were non-existent in quieter destinations like Umbria, we missed start times due to naps, or we simply wanted the flexibility to explore at our own pace (around infant hangry-ness).
We knew there had to be a better way—a digital guide that works whenever you're ready to explore.
With the powerful nature and hype of AI, we started using it to dig up local history and scandalous stories on our travels. However, we found the constant juggle between AI and Google maps to be too time consuming and distracting. We also felt that we weren’t getting a true story of the city that we liked from walking tours, instead just piece meal tid bits of information.
We needed something smoother, smarter, and built with travellers like us in mind.
So, our idea became a passion and after extensive development and testing… MyGuideGuru is ready to launch.
Our vision is simple: we want to bring meaning back to travel. To help people understand the stories behind the sights, not just snap photos. With every tour built, we hope to turn sightseeing into storytelling, spark peoples curiosity with scandal, history and humour, and most importantly make it accessible… anywhere, anytime.
We started MyGuideGuru to make cities come alive through personalised audio tours powered by cutting-edge AI, and integrated with maps. It's the kind of tool we wished existed when we were planning trips around feeding schedules and naptimes. However, it’s just as valuable for solo travellers, couples, and curious explorers of all kinds.
